the Pakistan Army has constituted a high-level committee to conduct an inquiry into the Top City scandal involving retired General Faiz Hameed.

The inquiry committee is set to thoroughly investigate the allegations against retired General Faiz Hameed, who is accused of exerting his influence to unduly benefit from the administration of Top City.

According to a representative from Haalat.com, on May 12, 2017, a raid was conducted on the home and G-11 office of Top City CEO Kunwar Moiz Khan by the Rangers and other law enforcement agencies on the orders of then Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and DG ISI General Faiz Hameed. Close to forty individuals, including Kunwar Moiz, were arrested and taken to an undisclosed location. There were also plans allegedly made to stage a fake encounter to kill CEO Kunwar Moiz Khan. Following this incident, many people were detained under the operation named “Top City.” The raid took place on May 12, 2017, whereas the FIR by the CTD against the detained individuals was dated May 19, 2017. The bail for other individuals was eventually granted.

Close friends of Kunwar Moiz claim that he had strong connections in Karachi, notably with the late Syed Ali Raza Abidi, and was associated with MQM. Stories were spread in Islamabad linking him to MQM. They also suggest that somewhere in this nexus, Maryam Nawaz played a role that possibly thwarted the ambitions of the then Interior Minister and Faiz Hameed to take control of Top City.

The inquiry committee is expected to scrutinize all aspects of the case, ensuring that justice is served and that those involved are held accountable. The case has attracted significant attention due to the high-profile nature of the allegations and the involvement of senior military and political figures.

The outcome of this inquiry could have far-reaching implications for governance and accountability in Pakistan. The public, especially stakeholders in Top City, are keenly awaiting the findings of the committee, hoping for transparency and justice for Kunwar Moiz Khan and other affected individuals.
