Govt School Tops After 28 Years
The Karachi Board of Secondary Education has announced the annual Matric Science results for 2024, marking a historical moment as a government school secured the top position for the first time in 28 years. Of 162,026 candidates, 131,614 passed the exam with an overall passing rate of 81.24%.
Govt School Shines After Nearly Three Decades:
The standout achievement of this year’s Matric results is the first position secured by Hafiz Abdul Rafay Tariq, a student from the Delhi Government Boys Secondary School, Karimabad. This is the first time since 1996 that a government school has outshone private institutions in the Matric Science exams. Abdul Rafay scored an impressive 1,040 out of 1,100 marks, achieving a percentage of 94.55%. His success not only brought pride to his family but also revitalized the hope for government schools’ academic performance in Karachi.
Private Schools Dominate Second and Third Positions:
While a government school topped the list, private institutions maintained their stronghold in the second and third positions. Rumaissa Imran from Al-Khalil Model School in Malir bagged the second position with 1,037 marks (94.27%), and Rukhsar from Little Folks School in North Nazimabad secured the third position with 1,025 marks (93.18%).
Overall Exam Performance:
A total of 163,012 candidates were registered for the Matric Science exams, with 933 absent. Out of the 162,026 candidates who appeared, 131,614 were declared successful. The detailed results show the following grade distribution:
A-1 Grade: 23,943 candidates
A Grade: 45,357 candidates
B Grade: 37,595 candidates
C Grade: 20,837 candidates
D Grade: 4,031 candidates
E Grade: 25 candidates
Gender-wise Breakdown:
Among the 76,831 female and 85,195 male candidates, 63,767 females and 67,847 males were declared successful. The detailed distribution of top grades is as follows:
A-1 Grade: 15,616 females and 8,327 males
A Grade: 23,357 females and 22,000 males
B Grade: 16,496 females and 21,099 males
C Grade: 7,421 females and 14,416 males
